Spirit Days

PJ:  Open

Chairperson works with the school to plan school-spirited days on the 1st Friday of each month.  Coordinates with PJ to ensure availability for monthly Spirit days and various other school and PTA events.

 

Spirit Wear

When:  Year Long

Chair:  Kristy Williams

Works with vendor for spirit wear selections and order form creation

 

Welcome Committee

When:  Fall/Spring

Chair:  Open

Meet and greet new parents and visitors during American Education Week and Kindergarten Roundup

 

Membership Committee

When:  Year Long

Chair:  Rachel McDougall & Sara Petry

Plan, implement and promote PTA membership drive to secure 100% participation from parents and staff. Duties include membership drive; membership lists; preparing rewards; coordinating with Treasurer for payment of county, state and national dues.

  

Yearbook

When:  Year Long

Chair:  Julie Siegel & Sara Petry

The committee will assist with taking photos of students throughout the school year for publishing. Deadline for submission to publisher is in April with distribution to students in June.

  

 

 

Room Parent Coordinator

When:  Year Long

Chair:  Sara Ismart

Coordinate with homeroom teachers to ensure each homeroom has a room parent(s).  Coordinates with the administration to communicate and work with the room parents.

 

BCPS Policy & Community Engagement Liaison

When:  Year Long

Chair:  Kari Waters

Identifies information from BCPS to be shared with the PTA. Works with the Exec Board to ensure parents and teachers receive pertinent information regarding BCPS events and opportunities.

 

Special Education Liaison 

When:  Year Long

Chair:  Open

Represents special education interests. Promotes and enhances good communication and relations between general and special education staff, students and parents.

 

Sunshine (Hospitality) Committee

When:  Monthly, September-June

Chair:  Mandi Blauvelt 

Help to plan and organize monthly breakfast to celebrate and honor our faculty and staff.

 

Clean and Green Committee 

When:  Year Long

Chair:  Open

Works with the school to provide environmental education enrichment programs and projects. Volunteers increase recycling awareness, plan and organize Earth Day, help the Garden Club clean-up campus and take care of the gardens.

 

Celebration and Support Committee 

When:  Year Long

Chair: Open

Send school staff a care gift on behalf of the PTA for annual honorary professional days and in times of sympathy and congratulations.

 

Reflections Committee

When:  Year Long

Chair:  Open

Coordinate a creativity contest to promote the arts in education.  Reflections is a judged, 4-leveled competition where the winners from the local level are passed to the next level (council, state, and then National PTA!)

 

5th Grade Committee

When:  Year Long

Chairs:  Beth Jarrett & Shelby Dorich

Plan and organize all activities and special events for the 5th graders.

Kindergarten Fire & Ice

Plan and execute Kindergarten welcome social.  Organize volunteer fire department demo and provide icy treat.  

 

Movie Night

When:  Fall

Chairs:  Diana Innes & Liz Grimm

Organize a movie night to show PTA approved movie.  Provide popcorn.

 

Monster Dash

When:  Late October

Chair:  Billy Christensen

Assists in organizing obstacle course event after school in late October.

 

PJ's Holiday Shop

When:  November/December

Chairs:  Open

Plan and organize a holiday shop for students.

 

Donuts with Dear Ones

When: Early Winter

Chair: Open

Chairperson organizes a before school breakfast for parents AND students from 7:45-8:30am. Volunteers needed to help set-up, replenish food/drink and clean-up.

 

Family Fun Night

When:  Late Winter

Chair:  Open

Plan and organize an evening event where families can watch a show and enjoy preordered pizza and drinks.

 

Spring Carnival

When:  May

Chairs: Jen Nielson & Erin Kim 

Plan and organize the Pinewood Spring Carnival. Work with committee members to set up games and activities.

 

 

Teacher Appreciation Week 

When:  May

Chair:  Ita Cremen

Organize events to appreciate our faculty and staff.

 

Nominating Committee

When:  Spring

Chair: Open

Committee members get to know parents of the school and members of the PTA in order to make nominations for Executive Board positions prior to May elections.

 

Write On!

When:  Spring

Chairs:  Jen Tosky

Publication includes all students in Kindergarten-Fifth grades interested in submitting literary work.  Every child at Pinewood will receive their own copy at the end of the year.
